Mona Lisa revamps her image after 500 years.
Designer style for Mona Lisa
The project was conceived and passionately led and fulfilled by the Architect Laura Villani, involving stylists such as Mariuccia Mandelli (Krizia), Elio Fiorucci, Ottavio Missoni and designer Alessandro Mendini.
All the artists interpreted the look of the Gioconda, better known as Mona Lisa, according to their own inspiration, enriching it with personal characteristics to create a new guise which reflects their individual, unmistakable style known throughout the world.
Each of the artists' original sketches was then transformed into a new creation by the company punto.cotto s.r.l., which was chosen as the partner for the initiative because it symbolises the ideal combination of respect for tradition and research for innovation. It is also ambassador of the great Chianti region, from which the Gioconda, then known as Mona Lisa Gherardini, is rumoured to have come herself and who really existed between the late 15th century and early 16th century.
The "Mona Lisa Collection" will be hosted as a travelling exhibition by museums in cities world wide, from New York to Montecarlo, from Cairo to New Dehli, which in this way will pay tribute to Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece which is celebrating its 500th anniversary.
